About this blog
Hello and welcome to our Defra Land Use: Policies and Framework blog!

We are the Land Use team in Defra. We’ve set up this blog to share progress and insights across the land use policy areas. We work on the Land Use Framework, Local Nature Recovery Strategies (LNRS), Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), nutrient neutrality, and wider enhancement of the environment through the planning system.
As a team we are keen to establish an ongoing dialogue with our main stakeholders, including landowners and managers, local authorities, developers, eNGOs, ecologists and academics. This blog will primarily include updates relevant to those communities, but the content is free to access for all who are interested in what’s happening in the Land Use policy area.
Blogs will vary from updates across different policy areas, to case studies. We hope they will provide you with practical insights.
